“You can learn more about a person in an hour of play than you can from a lifetime of conversation” Plato

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®

11th October 2022
10am-4pm

Our Learning Days offer you a rich day of collaborative learning and a gentle stretch. We anticipate leaving with new ideas, resources, and with our practice refreshed. See below for more information on this workshop.

We also offer this day as a Taster Day for those who are new to AoF and wish to experience working and learning together in a collaborative environment.

The day is held in person at Highfield Park, Hook, RG27 0LG. The cost is just £80 members, £100 non-members, Breakfast rolls, tea/coffee and lunch will be provided.

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is an innovative process which enables all stakeholders to experience an enriched understanding of meeting objectives through building a physical metaphor to convey a clear, concise, and creative message in response to a problem-solving challenge.

It is a facilitation tool which helps everyone take value, purpose, and ownership within a meeting, because our hands are allowed to respond to what our mind is thinking, without the immediate and limiting need to process our thoughts as speech. Instead, our mouths are disengaged until it is time to share our refined answers, which maximizes our reflection.

The methodology will guide teams into open, honest, and empathetic conversations because everyone’s contribution is considered. The physical and tangible construction allows the group to have discussions which flow without the fear of personal vulnerability. Within a workshop participants collaborate through cognitive, kinesthetic, auditory, and visual methods. Some of the benefits include enhanced communications, deepening of understanding, improved insight, social bonding through “play”, and more innovative creative solutions.

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®’s foundations are based on decades of research. It has been shown that this kind of hands-on, minds-on learning produces a more profound and fruitful understanding of the world and its potential.
On the Learning Day you will have the opportunity to experience this open-source facilitation method and find out more about its origins and applications.

Paul Kelly from PANDEK Group will be our facilitator for the day.
