Re-Accreditation and the Role of Reflection in Practice
As we gather in the woods this week for our Facilitators Retreat at Hazel Hill Wood, this month’s newsletter focuses on the role of reflection in practice and our re-accreditation process. We also have a small number of spaces remaining on Group Dynamics in June for those considering next steps in their facilitation development — scroll down for details.
For many facilitators, reflection is an important part of practice. It helps us stay connected to what we are doing, how we are doing it, and the impact our work is having on the group we work with and ourselves. Reflection can take many forms, including personal reflection, critical reflection, supervision, structured assessment, and dialogue with peers and others in the field. At the same time, making space for reflection can often feel difficult amidst the ongoing demands that facilitation work can place upon us, which was one of the reasons for creating the retreat as a new offering for our community this year.
Our re-accreditation process is another way we support and encourage this ongoing reflection in practice.

Upcoming dates for re-accreditation (and practitioner accreditation) include:You can read more about re-accreditation on our website, and book via our calendar if you are due to re-accredit this year. CPD and ongoing reflectionAlongside re-accreditation, our Learning Labs and Learning Days continue to offer space to reflect on practice, explore ideas, and learn alongside others in the AoF community. They can also contribute towards your CPD if you are planning to re-accredit this summer or later in the year, offering a flexible way to support your ongoing development. Our next Learning Lab is on Safety, Learning and the Psychological Contract this month, exploring how we understand and work with psychological safety in groups, and the role of the facilitator in holding both safety and challenge. Later in the year, we also have a Learning Lab focused specifically on reflective practice, offering space to explore what reflection means in your work. |
